So, you’re trying to add oil to your N52 engine, and you don’t have any idea what is your BMW N52 oil capacity?
Then don’t worry, here I’ll share with you the N52 oil capacity and step by step oil change process.
BMW N52 Oil Capacity
To keep your engine in perfect shape, you need to add the recommended amount of oil to the engine.
The standard oil capacity of the N52 engine is 6.5-6.6 liters or 7 US quarts.
Remember the oil capacity can vary slightly according to your vehicle model and year.
If you add too little or more, you’re engine will start having problems, because too little oil will cause insufficient lubrication into the engine, which will cause damage to engine components, overheating, etc.

Too much oil will result in leaking gaskets, internal engine overpressure, oil going into the intake system, and much more.
So, the best way is to fill the oil as per the N52 oil capacity, not more or less.
In exchange, this can save you thousands of dollars in engine repair.
Importance of Recommended Oil Levels
You should maintain the oil level on your BMW N52 at the recommended level.
So, here are some important points why you should maintain the proper recommended oil levels.
Cooling: The proper engine oil helps to cool the engine from overheating. And, if the oil level fluctuates it would be inefficient in cooling down the engine and the engine will overheat, which can result in multiple engine component damage.
Lubrication: Engine oil is very important in lubricating the moving components in the engine, and preventing them from rubbing each other. This eventually helps in minimizing any wear and tear in the inner section of the engine.
By maintaining a proper level you can properly lubricate those parts, and less oil means the inner parts will start rubbing each other & damage the inner section.
